How to Calculate ACX Royalties

Understanding your potential earnings from audiobooks is key to planning your production budget. ACX (Audible Creation Exchange) offers two main royalty options.

Exclusive vs. Non-Exclusive

  • Exclusive (40%): You agree to sell ONLY on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes. You get a higher royalty rate.
  • Non-Exclusive (25%): You can sell your audiobook on other platforms (Spotify, Kobo, etc.), but you earn less per sale on Audible.

Pricing Note

Unlike KDP, you cannot set your audiobook price manually. Audible sets the price based on the length (hours) of your book.
